Alternative to Chrome's cloud print

In the early months of 2021, Google announced that its Cloud Print capability will be removed after 10 years of service. It allows users to print a PDF copy of any web page. The shut down also comes along with the depreciation of Chrome's 'automatic upload of a file to Google Drive' function. Fortunately, all of these necessary features can now be found in a chrome extension, Save to Google Drive, and enjoyed free-of-charge.

Stronger save, upload, and print capability

This extension utility gives you the power to save web content or screen captures from your browser directly to Google Drive. Aside from that, you can also instantly save documents, images, hyperlinks, as well as HTML5 audio and video. By simply right-clicking on the contents and selecting the 'Save Google Drive' option, you will be able to safe-keep them in your drive.

Once this tool is installed, the 'Save to Drive' button will then appear as one of the options in the drop-down 'Destination' tab of the 'Chrome Print' function. You will have the liberty to control the directory location and format of saved HTML pages. Moreover, you will be able to convert your Microsoft Office files or comma-separated files to Google Docs format.

Its progress dialog gives you permission to open, rename, and view your file in the Google Drive document list. You will be able to organize and share a new document in the mentioned file list, as well. However, it contains few limitations. For instance, it has no capacity to capture either chrome:// pages or Chrome Web Store pages due to various security restrictions.

Essential replacement

Thanks to the Save to Google Drive add-on, users who miss the Cloud Print and Upload capability of Chrome will still be able to enjoy it. Its more extensive and efficient save function is something to look forward to as it speeds up workflow. This is a highly recommended tool especially for users who often use Google Drive to save various contents.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
